# VADRA Brand Guide

This is the single file AI agents and people read before making anything with the VADRA name on it: copy, UI, slides, social posts or documents. It follows **VADRA Brand Package v1.0** (October 2026) and adds rules for agents.

- Canonical URL: https://brand.vadra.net/brand.md. Index: https://brand.vadra.net/llms.txt
- Human view (the full illustrated guidelines): https://brand.vadra.net/
- Machine-readable tokens: https://brand.vadra.net/tokens.json
- Asset list with every file URL: https://brand.vadra.net/assets.json

## How to use this guide (agents read first)

1. **Fetch this file fresh** every time you start a branded task. Don't rely on a copy from an earlier conversation, because it changes.
2. **Place the logo; never make it.** Use the SVG files listed under [Logo files](#logo-files) by URL or download. Never retype "VADRA" in a font, never redraw the symbol, and never generate it as an image.
3. **Use only the hex values in this file.** They mirror https://brand.vadra.net/tokens.json, and if the two ever differ, tokens.json wins. Never approximate a colour.
4. **Status tags:** **Confirmed** means use as written. **Pending sign-off** means use it freely in digital work and drafts, but flag it to a human before anything is printed or launched publicly. **TBC** means don't guess: ask a human.
5. **Don't invent facts.** VADRA is pre-launch. Never claim customers, partners, pilots, certifications, uptime figures or regulatory approvals. See [Honesty rules](#honesty-rules).
6. If a request conflicts with this guide, follow the guide and say why.

## 1. Brand · Confirmed

**Tagline:** The Global Identity Gateway

**Purpose line:** Connected identities. Greater opportunity.

**What VADRA is (use this description):**
VADRA is a neutral, secure and compliant identity gateway that connects digital identities across borders, systems and services, for governments, businesses and people.

What VADRA does: it routes verification requests between the services that need identity (relying parties) and the sources of identity (national eIDs, EUDI wallets, bank IDs, commercial identity-verification providers). It then returns one normalised decision. VADRA does **not** issue identities, and it is designed not to store identity data.

**Pillars**

| Pillar | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Neutral | We connect every credible identity scheme and favour none. Technology-agnostic by design. |
| Secure | Trust is the product. Every interaction is built for privacy, assurance and resilience. |
| Compliant | eIDAS, national ID laws and sector rules are the baseline we design from, not an afterthought. |
| Open | Integrate once, reach many. One well-documented API across providers and standards. |

**Audiences**
- **Governments** accept trusted digital identities and run secure cross-border services.
- **Businesses** onboard customers and partners globally, easily and compliantly.
- **Developers** integrate once and access multiple identity providers through a single API.

## 2. Naming and domains · Confirmed

- The name is written **VADRA**, in capitals, everywhere: in running text, titles and alt text. Not "Vadra" and not "VADRA®".
- Never use **"ID Gateway"** or **"Identity Gateway"** as a product name. The words appear only inside the tagline "The Global Identity Gateway".
- **Domains.** VADRA owns **vadra.net** and **vadra.org**. It does **not** own vadra.com, so never write vadra.com in anything.
  - `vadra.net` is production and anything public. Reserved surfaces: `console.`, `verify.`, `api.`, `docs.`, `status.` and `admin.vadra.net`. Brand guide: `brand.vadra.net`.
  - `vadra.org` is for prototypes and the test environment only. Never put it on customer-facing material.
  - Contact address: `hello@vadra.net` · **Confirmed** (the mailbox is live).
- **Product surfaces** (use these names): Website, Relying-party demo, Hosted Verify, Customer console, Backoffice (internal only), Status, Developer docs.
- **Glossary:**
  - *relying party*: the service asking for verification (a bank, a government portal).
  - *identity provider* or *identity source*: a national eID, wallet, bank ID or IDV vendor.
  - *rail*: one connected identity source.
  - *decision*: the normalised result VADRA returns, rather than raw identity records.

## 3. Logo · Confirmed

**The symbol** is a V built from three connected parts. It is a V for VADRA, and a gateway seen from above: two identities arrive from different directions and meet at a shared point of trust.

| Part | Colour | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Left arm | Vermilion #E34112 | Energy, trust and action. The identity that arrives. |
| Gem (bottom) | Orange #FF8A1A | Connection, people and progress. The gateway where the two meet. |
| Right arm | Amber #FFC21A | Opportunity, innovation and global reach. The service it unlocks. |

The arms lean at 56° from horizontal. The gaps between the parts are fixed in the artwork and must stay visible.

**The wordmark** is custom geometric artwork with open, bar-less A forms that echo the V. It is not a font.

**Lockups**

| Lockup | Use |
|---|---|
| Horizontal (primary) | The default everywhere. |
| Stacked | Square or narrow formats. |
| Symbol | App icons, favicons, avatars, and anything below the minimum size. |
| Horizontal with tagline | Covers, signage and formal documents. Only where the tagline is at least 8 px tall. |

**Clear space:** keep a margin of X on every side, where X is the height of the gem (about 45% of the symbol height). Nothing goes inside it.

**Minimum size:** use the horizontal lockup only where its symbol can be at least 24 px tall (8 mm in print). Where that doesn't fit, use the symbol alone. The symbol's own minimum is 24 px; 16 px is allowed only for favicons.

**Colour variants:** use full colour wherever you can. Use monochrome only for single-colour print, embossing, engraving, or where the background makes full colour illegible.

| Variant | File suffix | Use on |
|---|---|---|
| Full colour | `-color` | White, Off White and other light backgrounds |
| Full colour on dark | `-color-on-dark` | Charcoal, Slate and dark photography (white wordmark) |
| Monochrome dark | `-mono-dark` | Light backgrounds, one colour (Charcoal) |
| Monochrome light | `-mono-light` | Dark backgrounds, one colour (White) |

**Do not:**
- stretch or squash the logo
- change its colours
- add shadows, glows or effects
- rearrange the symbol and wordmark
- rotate or tilt it
- place it on a low-contrast background
- outline it
- retype the wordmark in a font

### Logo files

SVG is the master format, so use it wherever the tool accepts vector. The SVGs are outlined paths with transparent backgrounds and tight artboards.

| Lockup | Light background | Dark background |
|---|---|---|
| Horizontal | https://brand.vadra.net/logo/vadra-logo-horizontal-color.svg | https://brand.vadra.net/logo/vadra-logo-horizontal-color-on-dark.svg |
| Horizontal + tagline | https://brand.vadra.net/logo/vadra-logo-horizontal-tagline-color.svg | https://brand.vadra.net/logo/vadra-logo-horizontal-tagline-color-on-dark.svg |
| Stacked | https://brand.vadra.net/logo/vadra-logo-stacked-color.svg | https://brand.vadra.net/logo/vadra-logo-stacked-color-on-dark.svg |
| Symbol | https://brand.vadra.net/logo/vadra-icon-color.svg | https://brand.vadra.net/logo/vadra-icon-color-on-dark.svg |

To get monochrome, replace `-color` with `-mono-dark` (Charcoal ink, for light backgrounds) or `-mono-light` (white, for dark backgrounds). For example: https://brand.vadra.net/logo/vadra-logo-horizontal-mono-light.svg

PNG files are for tools that can't take vector. They follow `https://brand.vadra.net/logo/png/<name>-<width>w.png`, for example https://brand.vadra.net/logo/png/vadra-logo-horizontal-color-960w.png. Widths available: horizontal 480/960/1920/3840; stacked 320/640/1280/2560; symbol 32/64/128/256/512/1024; horizontal with tagline 960/1920/3840. The full list is in https://brand.vadra.net/assets.json.

**Web icons** (favicon, apple-touch-icon, manifest icons): https://brand.vadra.net/app-icons/web/ ([head snippet](https://brand.vadra.net/app-icons/web/head-snippet.html)). Theme colour: `#0B1220`.

## 4. Colour · Confirmed

**Warm signal on a calm, neutral ground.** Three warm brand colours carry energy and movement. A charcoal-led neutral palette keeps VADRA serious, institutional and readable. The warm colours are the signal; the neutrals do most of the work.

**Brand colours**

| Name | HEX | RGB | CMYK | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vermilion | #E34112 | 227 65 18 | 0 72 100 0 | Energy · Trust · Action |
| Orange | #FF8A1A | 255 138 26 | 0 55 100 0 | Connection · People · Progress |
| Amber | #FFC21A | 255 194 26 | 0 25 100 0 | Opportunity · Innovation · Global |
| Vermilion Text | #C93A10 | 201 58 16 | 0 71 92 21 | Functional: small text and links on light backgrounds |

**Neutrals** (CMYK values are conversions and need proofing before print)

| Name | HEX | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Charcoal | #0B1220 | Primary text, dark surfaces, **primary buttons** |
| Slate | #374151 | Body text on light, raised dark surfaces |
| Cool Gray | #6B7280 | Muted text, captions, icons |
| Light Gray | #E5E7EB | Borders and dividers |
| Off White | #F8FAFC | Page background |
| White | #FFFFFF | Cards and light surfaces |

**Proportion:** a typical layout is roughly 40% Charcoal, 35% White and Off White, 10% greys, and 15% warm brand colours (Vermilion 7, Orange 5, Amber 3). Warm colour stays **under a fifth** of any surface.

**Brand gradient:** `linear-gradient(135deg, #E34112 0%, #FF8A1A 50%, #FFC21A 100%)`. Use it only for the V graphic element and for large display headlines (48 px and up). Never put it behind body text, and never use it in the logo.

**Accessible pairings** (WCAG 2.1)

| Pairing | Contrast | Allowed use |
|---|---|---|
| Charcoal text on White | 18.7:1 | AAA · all text |
| White text on Charcoal | 18.7:1 | AAA · all text |
| Slate text on White | 10.3:1 | AAA · body copy |
| Cool Gray on White | 4.8:1 | AA · captions only |
| Orange on Charcoal | 7.9:1 | AAA · headlines, links |
| Amber on Charcoal | 11.6:1 | AAA · highlights |
| Vermilion on White | 4.2:1 | AA large only · 24 px+ or 19 px bold |
| Vermilion Text #C93A10 on White | 5.1:1 | AA · small text and links |
| Orange on White | 2.4:1 | **Fails** · graphics only, never text |
| Amber on White | 1.6:1 | **Fails** · graphics only, never text |

**UI rules that follow from this:**
- Primary button: Charcoal background with white text. On dark surfaces, use a White button with Charcoal text.
- Links on light backgrounds: Vermilion Text #C93A10. On dark: Orange #FF8A1A.
- Focus ring: Orange #FF8A1A.
- Never put Orange or Amber text on a light background.

No Pantone references have been set yet · **TBC**.

## 5. Typography · Confirmed

The type system has two roles, *VADRA Display* (headlines) and *VADRA Text* (everything else). Until a custom face is commissioned, both are set in **Inter** (Inter Display for headlines). Inter is free under the SIL Open Font License, from Google Fonts or rsms.me/inter. Code is set in **JetBrains Mono**.

| Role | Typeface | Weight | Size / line height | Tracking | Case |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Display | Inter Display | Bold 700 | 72 / 72 | −3.5% | Sentence, ends with a full stop |
| H1 | Inter Display | Bold 700 | 56 / 59 | −3% | Sentence |
| H2 | Inter Display | Bold 700 | 40 / 44 | −2% | Sentence |
| H3 | Inter | SemiBold 600 | 28 / 34 | −1% | Sentence |
| Lead | Inter | Regular 400 | 20 / 30 | 0 | Sentence |
| Body | Inter | Regular 400 | 16 / 26 | 0 | Sentence |
| Caption | Inter | Medium 500 | 12 / 16 | +4% | Sentence |
| Eyebrow / tagline | Inter | Medium 500 | 13 | +24% to +42% (default +30%) | UPPERCASE |
| Code | JetBrains Mono | Regular 400 | 14 / 22 | 0 | — |

- Headlines are Bold with tight tracking, in sentence case, and end with a full stop: "Connect identities."
- The second line of a hero headline may be set in Orange on dark, or in the brand gradient at 48 px and above.
- Body text is 16 px or larger with 1.5–1.6 line height: Slate #374151 on light, Light Gray #E5E7EB on dark.
- Font stacks:
  - display: `"Inter Display", "Inter", system-ui, -apple-system, "Segoe UI", sans-serif`
  - text: `"Inter", system-ui, -apple-system, "Segoe UI", sans-serif`
  - mono: `"JetBrains Mono", ui-monospace, "SFMono-Regular", Menlo, monospace`

**Shape and space** (from the tokens):
- Radius: 6 / 10 / 16 / 24 px (sm / md / lg / xl).
- Spacing unit: 8 px.
- Card shadow: `0 1px 2px rgba(11,18,32,.04), 0 8px 24px rgba(11,18,32,.06)`.
- Brand angle: 56°.

## 6. Iconography · Confirmed

Simple line icons with one warm accent. They are drawn on a 24 px grid with a 1.75 px stroke and round caps and joins. Keep 2 px padding, and scale in steps of 24 (24, 48, 72). Scale the stroke with the icon, and never mix stroke weights in one view. Each icon may have at most **one** Orange accent stroke; the mono versions drop it.

There are 12 icons: identity, security, interoperability, global, government, business, people, integration, secure-lock, fast, sustainable, api.

- Accent SVG: `https://brand.vadra.net/icons/vadra-icon-<name>.svg`
- Mono SVG (uses `currentColor`): `https://brand.vadra.net/icons/vadra-icon-<name>-mono.svg`
- PNG at 96 px: `https://brand.vadra.net/icons/png/vadra-icon-<name>-96.png`
- Sprite: https://brand.vadra.net/icons/vadra-icons-sprite.svg, used as `<svg><use href="vadra-icons-sprite.svg#vadra-identity"/></svg>`. Set `--vadra-icon-accent` to colour the accent stroke.

## 7. Graphic element · Confirmed

**The V, scaled up and cropped.** The supergraphic is the symbol itself at large scale, cropped by the frame, with the arms in soft gradients. It gives every layout a sense of direction and movement.

- Crop the V by one or two edges of the frame, so it reads as passing through.
- Keep all three parts and the gaps between them. Don't redraw the arms as stripes or add new pieces.
- Place it **beside** text, never behind it. Keep the left half of a layout for the message.
- Use it once per layout, and never next to the full-colour logo at a similar size.
- Over photography, use a single arm in Orange at 85–90% opacity.

## 8. Voice · Confirmed

**Clear, confident and calm.** VADRA sits between governments, companies and citizens, so it sounds like a trusted, neutral expert: short sentences, concrete claims, no hype. A headline is a pair of short statements: a fact, then the benefit.

| Write | Avoid |
|---|---|
| Integrate once. Access multiple identity providers through a single API. | Revolutionising the future of identity with our cutting-edge, AI-powered platform! |
| Accept trusted EU digital identities through one integration. | Seamlessly leverage best-in-class identity synergies. |

**Approved lines.** These describe what VADRA is built to do, so they fit the honesty rules. Don't add numbers, customer names or "live in N countries" claims to them.
- Tagline: *The Global Identity Gateway*
- Purpose line: *Connected identities. Greater opportunity.*
- Call to action line: *Connect identities. Enable opportunity.*
- Proof points: *Secure & compliant · Technology neutral · Global reach · Fast integration · Sustainable*. **Pending sign-off:** "Secure & compliant" and "Sustainable" need evidence before external use. Until then, prefer "Technology neutral · Global reach · Fast integration".

**Words to avoid:** seamless, frictionless, leverage, synergy, revolutionising, game-changing, cutting-edge, best-in-class, AI-powered, blockchain, world-class, "Stripe for KYC" (a competitor's line), and exclamation marks.

**Style**
- Use British English (colour, normalise, organisation), as the brand package does.
- Name concrete things: "national eIDs, EUDI wallets and bank IDs", not "all identity types".
- Prefer "decision" to "data". VADRA returns a decision, not a copy of someone's records.
- Use "we" for VADRA and "you" for the reader.

### Honesty rules

VADRA is a pre-launch company. Everything public must be true today.

- **No unearned claims.** Don't claim certifications (ISO 27001, SOC 2, eIDAS trust-service status), customers, partners, pilots, user numbers, uptime or coverage that isn't real. "Compliant" describes what we design for: write "designed for eIDAS 2.0 and GDPR", not "eIDAS certified".
- **Label the roadmap.** For anything not live, use the status labels already used in the product: **Planned**, **In design**, **Under assessment**, **Draft placeholder**.
- **No named prospects.** Never name governments, banks or partners under discussion in public material.
- **Privacy wording:** "designed not to store identity data" or "returns a decision, not the data" is acceptable. Absolute guarantees ("we never see your data") are not.

## 9. Applications · Pending

The package includes these templates:
- business card (85 × 55 mm + 3 mm bleed)
- A4 letterhead
- presentation (cover, divider and content, 1920 × 1080)
- social (LinkedIn banner, X header, square post, story, link preview, avatar)
- app icons (iOS, Android adaptive, web)

**Status:** the print and social templates currently say "vadra.com", which VADRA doesn't own. They stay **unpublished** until corrected to vadra.net. Don't produce business cards, letterheads or social banners from older copies. The web app icons are published and fine to use.

When building slides or documents without a template:
- **Cover:** Charcoal background, the colour-on-dark horizontal logo top-left, a Display headline in White, and an optional cropped-V graphic on the right.
- **Content:** White or Off White background, Charcoal headlines, Slate body text, warm colour under 20%.

## Changelog

- **2026-10-16**: the vector logo rebuild is signed off by Üllar, so the logo files are confirmed for print and public launch. The `hello@vadra.net` mailbox is confirmed live. Both are removed from open items.
- **2026-10-15**: first published guide, based on Brand Package v1.0. It replaces the earlier v1 placeholders (navy and orange→coral gradient) and the v2 sheets (orange and deep teal). Changes from earlier usage: the name is now written VADRA (all caps); the tagline is now "The Global Identity Gateway" ("Connected Identities." is retired as the tagline); the pillars are now Neutral / Secure / Compliant / Open; the primary action colour is Charcoal.
